Regulatory Risk for Cryptocurrencies
Cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum have gained a following of traders and early adopters over recent years, driving prices higher and garnering attention from businesses, consumers, and financial institutions. While the price appreciation of cryptocurrencies has been significant in many cases, the regulatory risk associated with purchasing this asset class has increased as legislators and regulators pay closer attention. Cryptocurrencies have generally enjoyed a relatively light amount of regulation to this point, but, as this article notes, that may not be the case for much longer.
